Hundreds of Mackerel were stranded in the harbour at St Ives and in Carbis Bay. The RSPCA said that such incidents were very unusual.

It is believed that these fish were caught out by the changing tide when hundreds of them were found in the shallows beside the stone steps leading from Wharf Road, St Ives on Monday morning.

Hundreds more were found on the same day in Carbis Bay.

the RSPCA were called and reported that the majority of the mackerel were washed back out to sea once the tide came back in.
