October is a wonderful time to visit Cornwall. The summer crowds have eased, the coastline takes on its autumn colours and a packed calendar of seasonal events offers even more reasons to explore.
Food lovers can visit the Falmouth Oyster Festival from 8–11 October 2026, featuring fresh Cornish seafood, chef demonstrations, local produce, live music and evening entertainment.
From 16–18 October, the Mevagissey Shanty Festival fills the historic harbour village with traditional sea shanties and live performances. Most events are free, making it a lovely day out for visitors of all ages.
Later in the month, Halloween arrives across Cornwall. Bodmin Jail will host its atmospheric Go Darker tours throughout October, while the Eden Project welcomes the return of its popular ice rink from 17 October.
